Xbox users recently noticed that pressing the familiar A button now opens the Game Hub—a screen showing achievements and details—instead of launching the game immediately. What was once a single-step action suddenly required an extra tap, causing confusion and irritation. This change follows a recent system update. On subreddits like r/Xbox and r/XboxSupport, users reported that Xbox now expects the X button to bring up the Game Hub, while A handles launching. Some appreciate the ease of monitoring stats before playing, but many others miss the direct launch behavior they’re used to.Fortunately, there’s a simple fix hidden in the settings. Navigate to SettingsGeneralPersonalizationGames & apps, then uncheck all options under “Choose whether game hubs open automatically from the following places.” After that, pressing A returns to launching games instantly.Though the update annoyed many, a few users welcome the Game Hub shift. They say it offers convenient insight into achievements without opening the full profile. Yet others feel the change should’ve come with a prompt or notice. While Xbox hasn’t issued an official explanation, users now have control. If you prefer the traditional flow, tweak the settings and return to pressing A to play.
