Motorola users recently noticed an unexpected addition to their app drawer: a new “App picks” section that displays suggested or promoted apps. These recommendations appear as ads and have left many users feeling like their near-stock Android experience has been compromised.Users report that the suggestions showed up without any notice or update, leading to frustration. One user even mentioned spending around £600 on their phone and feeling misled by having ads appear among their apps. Another shared a screen recording showing “App picks” within folders, despite not recalling any recent software changes.Thankfully, there is a quick solution for those who prefer a clean app drawer. Users can disable the suggestions by long-pressing an empty area of their home screen, accessing Home settings, and toggling off “Suggestions in all apps list” and “Suggestions on home screen.” In some cases, users may need to go deeper into app tray settings to fully remove the feature, followed by a restart to ensure changes take hold.Although disabling welcomes the clean look back, Motorola hasn’t commented on why these recommendations were added or whether they’ll return. For now, users can reclaim control over their interface and enjoy a more minimalist experience.
