Instagram users are currently experiencing a series of glitches affecting key features of the platform. Reports have surfaced on forums like Reddit, where users express frustration over issues such as incomplete follower lists, discrepancies in like counts, and problems with Reel sharing suggestions. While these bugs are not universally affecting all users, the volume of complaints indicates a significant impact on user experience.
A prominent issue involves the display of follower and following lists. Users report that these lists are showing only a fraction of the actual accounts. For instance, one user noted that when viewing another’s following list, only a few accounts are visible, not the complete list. Another user mentioned that since a recent update, they and their friends can see only about one-third to half of the followers in each other’s lists. This has led to speculation about whether this is an intentional change or a bug. One user commented that if this is an update and not a glitch, it’s a poor decision.
Additionally, users are encountering inconsistencies with the like counts on posts. Some have observed that the number of likes displayed does not match the actual list of users who liked the post. For example, a post might show nine likes, but only four names appear when attempting to view who liked it. This issue extends beyond personal posts, with reports of similar discrepancies on others’ content.
The Reel sharing feature is also reportedly malfunctioning. Users find that the suggested list of friends for sharing Reels includes accounts they rarely interact with, while close contacts are missing. This forces users to manually search for the intended recipients, making the sharing process more cumbersome. One user expressed that when trying to send a Reel to friends, the list that appears includes people with whom they have no interaction. Another user noted that none of the people or groups they’ve shared content with in the last three months appear in the new list.
